Here are some additional features that the Voron 2 has going for it: Several of these things can of course be re-engineered or modified (no one would stop you from putting a mains heated bed on a Hype-Evo. Gantry leveling - the Voron V2 moves its hotend gantry on the Z and uses 4 independent steppers during the leveling process to put the gantry into parallel with the bed. This helps make the Voron V2 ridiculously accurate (look for youtube videos on Voron V2 gantry leveling if you'd like to see it in action)īoth inductive sensor and physical switch used during the leveling process. There are 3 build sizes supported 250 3, 300 3 and 350 3 (in other words, if you change nozzles the printer can adjust for a different nozzle height) The inductive sensor performs sensing for the gantry leveling, but there is also a physical Z switch next to the bed that lets the printer know where "zero" Z height is.

If upgrade paths are important to you, then someone in the forum had mentioned how the designer ( u/russiancatfood MZBOT) has worked very hard to make sure that there is a Voron upgrade path from the beginning (Voron Evolution! :-) ) So if you had built a V1.0 a few years ago, you have a path to the V1.5 all the way up to a V2.0.I would like to build a nice CoreXY printer. I was pretty much dead set on a Hypercube Evolution, then eventually kind of turned off by the Linear Rods.

Next I was pretty interested in the D-Bot / Re-D-Bot / J-Bot (but with upgrades, z-axis wheels on all four corners, 1sPiRe's mods from thingiverse, that makes it way nicer and modern and supports a 300x300 build plate)īut the thing about the D-Bot is i am not sure that v slot wheels are honestly that much better, I know i could probably do a linear rail upgrade, or similar but the fact that there is no sleek way to enclose a D-Bot is also kind of a turn off. Finally everybody seems to be raving about the Voron 2, maybe once the BOM is released i will definitely consider it, it seems to fit my criteria perfectly, looks really nice, enclosed, linear rails, etc. but the chance of the BOM coming out for it is who knows when. That being said, I would really like to make a 300Y x 300X x 300Z+/.
Would be cool if it could be easily enclosed but i guess its not technically necessary. I would like a heavy duty build that will last.Īnything that I didn't mention here that I should look into? if not out of these two, the upgraded D-Bot and Hypercube Evolution which would you go with and why? Do you know something I dont and is there finally a ETA on the Voron 2 BOM? etc.
